Please be advised that because we have reached in excess of 10,900 patients registered at Bridge Medical Centre, our patient registrations are now capped with effect from Tuesday 1st May 2018. This means that we are unable to take on any new patients. This decision has been taken in order for the practice to continue safely providing NHS services to our currently registered patients.

The Crawley Access Hub - Starting in November 2017
The Crawley Access Hub is a new NHS Medical Service designed for the Crawley population to have additional access to GP services.
A number of Crawley Practices are taking part in this new service and will have daily access to additional Doctor’s appointments for patients to consult with a GP. The number of appointments available for each Practice will be allocated, according to the Practice’s patient list size. These appointment sessions could be held at a number of different Practices located within the Crawley area. Patient’s wishing to access these appointments will be offered an appointment by a receptionist or clinician at their registered Practice.
To access this service you will be asked for consent to share your medical records with other medical professionals, i.e. the GP that will be seeing you in the Crawley Access Hub. You will be asked for your consent to share your records when your appointment is being made, and you will also be asked again by the Doctor before your consultation begins. Your consent will be recorded on your medical records.
If you wish to dissent to sharing your medical records, you will not be able to consult with a Doctor working for the Crawley Access Hub, as this Doctor will not have access to your medical records. However this will not affect your rights to consult with a doctor or other health care professionals at your registered Practice.
You can change your consent status at any time by informing staff at your registered Practice. Any individual consultations that you do not wish to share can be marked as private.
When booking an appointment for this service a receptionist will ask you for a brief outline of your medical problem to ensure that an appointment in the Crawley Access Hub is the correct option for you.
This service will comply with Information Governance rules and regulations.

Physiotherapy Self-Referral at Crawley
You can now refer yourself to physiotherapy without seeing your GP first if you are registered with a Crawley or Horsham GP.

You will be offered the most appropriate appointment for your condition and circumstances which may be a one-to-one appointment, a class or group, or you may be assessed and managed over the telephone.

Please note: this self-referral service is only available aged 17 and over.
Worldwide Shortage of Hepatitis A Vaccination
We apologise to any patients requiring the Hepatitis A vaccine for their travels. Currently there are no Hepatitis A vaccinations available.
We are in close contact with manufacturers for all brands of the vaccine and will endeavour to purchase supplies when they become available.
If you have been advised that your travel plans put you at risk of Hepatitis A, then you may need to seek alternative ways to be vaccinated. If you wish to speak to one of our practice nurses regarding your travel, please make an appointment when we will be happy to discuss your options. For some time patients have been able to book GP appointments online up to 2 weeks ahead and order repeat prescriptions. Patients can now request access to a summary of their medical history including illnesses, operations and procedures. Patients can choose how much access they would like and some prefer only to book appointments and order medication. In order to set up an account or extend the access you have, you will need to come to the surgery and complete some forms. Please bring with you photo ID (passport or driving licence) and proof of your address (utility bill from the last 3 months). For data protection we need to verify your identity before allowing you access. If you already have a password for appointments and prescriptions, we do not need to verify you again but for security you will need to show photographic ID.
This service is not currently available for children under age 16 and we do not allow proxy access.

Please be aware that by accessing your medical record you may see things of which you were unaware or had forgotton. You must not be coerced into applying for access to your records and must be responsible for the security of your records and password.
Electronic Prescription Service Now Available
A new way to get your medicines and applicances
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.
What does this mean for you?
If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.
Is this service right for you?
Yes, if you have a stable condition and you:
- don’t want to go to your GP practice every time to collect your repeat
- collect your medicines from the same place most of the time or use a prescription collection service
It may not be if you:
- don’t get prescriptions very often
- pick up your medicines from different places.
How can you use EPS?
You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescription to. This is called nomination. You can choose:
- a pharmacy
- a dispensing appliance contractor (if you use one).
- your dispensing GP practice (if you are eligible).
Ask any pharmacy or your GP practice to add your nomination for you. You don’t need a computer to do this.
Can I change my nomination or cancel it and get a paper prescription?
Yes you can. If you don’t want your prescription to be sent electronically tell your GP. If you want to change or cancel your nomination speak to any pharmacist or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS, or your GP practice. Tell them before your next prescription is due or your prescription may be sent to the wrong place.
Is EPS reliable, secure and confidential?
Yes. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now.
Sometimes dispensers may see that you have nominated another dispenser. For example, if you forget who you have nominated and ask them to check or, if you have nominated more than one dispenser. Dispensers will also see all the items on your reorder slip if you are on repeat prescriptions.

Prescription Charge Exemption Reminder
It has come to our attention that a number of patients have recently received fines due to expired prescription medical exemption certificates.
As you will know, diabetic patients can apply for a medical exemption certificate - which should be renewed every 5 years. The onus is on the patient to renew their certificate so please check your certificate is still in date.
